Got 3 new additions to our brady bunch family. 1 boy and 2 girls. In a tank of giant fish they are looking a bit unsettled… tonight (2nd night) they seem to have found their hidy-holes.

RIP little loach

September 15th, 2009 by D&D

Came home tonight and found the little one had passed. 14cm, 5+ years old also. =(

everyone else seem better. everyone’s also eating now except for widow and the little loach..

fatty (big loach)’s eyes are getting worse.. i think.. its like a bubble on his right eye.. big y’day and bigger tonight.. can’t figure out what is wrong. Its not pop-eye, its not cloudy eye…what is it?????!

tonight: kH 40ppm; pH 7.5; ammonia 0.

the one good thing out of this is, our plants are thriving….

Water problem continue… ammonia back to normal thanks to probac or prime or both.

Last night added aquari-cycline tablets to try and tackle the worsening eye infection/fin rot on fish… no visible improvement tonight.. in fact our last cardinal tetra died =(

today I received kH-up tablets in the post. Added 3 in the canisters as soon as we got home.
Tonight’s test:
ammonia = 0
kH = 10ppm
pH = 5.5 (!!!)

fatty and friends (the loaches) are verrrry unhappy. This is evident as all three are no longer hanging out at the front under the log but somewhere behind it.

even the true siamensis is showing some signs of cloudy eye..

finger’s crossed the kH-up tabs will quickly and safely bring up and stabalise the pH. Will do more water tests tomorrow.

Lesson learnt: test water once a week!
